Education:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
Certification:
Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level 2 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certificate in Radiographic Inspection (RT); and two (2) of the following CGSB Level 2 NDT certificates in Engineering Materials and Components (EMC) to Natural Resources Canada (NRC):
• Ultrasonic Inspection (UT),
• Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) or
• Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT)
or
Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level 1 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certificate in Radiographic Inspection (RT), and CGSB Level 2 NDT certificates in Ultrasonic Inspection (UT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) and Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT) in Engineering Materials and Components (EMC) to Natural Resources Canada (NRC).
Experience:
Experience in conducting Radiographic Inspection (RT) Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) process, and a minimum of two Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes (UT, MT, PT) on structures and/or piping systems.
Experience interpreting Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results and producing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) reports in accordance with various Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection codes.
Experience in the interpretation of one or more of following technical manuals/codes:
CSA W59 ``Welded Steel Construction
ASME B31.1 ``Power Piping
ASME B31.3 ``Process Piping
ASME “Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code - Section V” or Def Stan 02-729 ``Requirements for Non-Destructive Testing
Def Stan 02-773 ``Minimum Acceptance Standards for Welds in HM Surface Ships and Submarines
Experience using Microsoft Word and Outlook
English essential

Asset Qualifications:
Certification:
Level 3 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certificates in any or all of the following: Radiographic Inspection (RT), Ultrasonic Inspection (UT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) and Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT) with the Canadian General Standard Board (CGCB) within Natural Resources Canada (NRC).
Certified as an Exposure Device Operator with the Nuclear Safety Commission.
Experience:
Experience in the use of sketch software packages such as Smart-Sketch
Knowledge:
Knowledge of associated naval organizations such as DGMEPM and MARLANT NEM.

Secret security clearance - Secret Level 2
Willingness to work in adverse conditions/environments, which may include, but not limited to; confined spaces, heights, extreme weather conditions
Willingness to work onboard ships while at sea, which may include alternate methods of air and sea transport to and from the ship, including transfer at sea procedures

Willingness to travel outside the headquarters area for extended periods of time and work in commercial repair facilities

Willingness to participate in training sessions, which may include on the job training, self-study and training in classroom settings

Willingness to obtain qualifications to achieve level 2 certification.
