Duties include:
• applying and communicating operating policies, procedures, standards and tools in a client service environment,
• reviewing, renewing or amending licenses or license applications,
• determining if legal requirements and documentation of license applications are met,
• recommending licences be issued or denied,
• providing written and verbal feedback to internal and external clients, and
• information management.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is seeking candidates with an interest in a public-facing and detail-oriented role as a Licensing Officer for the Yukon Transboundary Rivers Area, Resource Management Program based out of Whitehorse. This position requires skillful interaction with members of the public in order to provide service to Canadians while ensuring regulatory compliance is maintained.
This process will be used to fill one (1) PM-02 position within the Yukon Transboundary Rivers Area, Resource Management Program (Whitehorse). A pool of qualified candidates will also be established to fill possible future openings of similar positions at various tenures within the Yukon Transboundary Rivers Area. A pool of qualified candidates may also be established to fill possible future openings of similar positions at various tenures within Metro Vancouver.
It is anticipated that the pool will be in place and available for use by hiring Managers in September 2019.

Education:
A secondary school diploma or employer approved alternatives. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
• Experience providing procedural advice to clients in person and in writing
• Experience providing customer or client service in support of a program
• Experience verifying information and accurately transacting within in electronic systems
• Experience working with computers using word processing, spreadsheets and email programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Education:
• Post secondary diploma or degree in a field relevant to the position
Experience:
• Experience in maintaining electronic databases
• Experience in supporting improvement of information management systems
• Experience in the interpretation or application of Acts, Regulations or policies
• Experience in analyzing, summarizing and making recommendations in support of policy or program development
• Experience administering or issuing licences, permits, authorizations or approvals
• Experience in initiating corrective action to meet client or organizational needs
