In assessing candidates, assessment boards may use a variety of tools and methods including, but not limited to, written tests, interviews, reference checks, etc. In addition, all information obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, may be used to evaluate the candidates.
Through its Fire Protection Program, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) provides the guidance, tools and support necessary to monitor all activities related to fire protection, including the inspection of buildings and facilities for which the department is the custodian to prevent any fire-related incidents or disruptions.
As the Fire prevention specialist within PSPC, you will be called upon to carry out various research, inspection, training and advices related to fire prevention in order to ensure the safety of employees, as well as facilities and buildings.

The results of this process will initially be used to staff three (3) positions indeterminately in Gatineau. A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions within PSPC.

EDUCATION:
Post-secondary school education diploma in fire prevention or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the field of fire prevention.
EXPERIENCES:
- Experience with building inspections or other related activities.
- Experience in providing advice and guidance on fire prevention and life safety.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification or eligibility for certification as a fire inspector and/or fire prevention public educator.
- Experience in the development and delivery of fire prevention training or awareness sessions.

- Ability to identify irregularities during building inspections or fire prevention/life safety procedures and recommend corrective measures.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel to various locations to conduct inspections.
- Available for occasional short trips.
