CORCAN, as part of the Correctional Service of Canada, is responsible for the Employment and Employability Program for offenders serving a federal sentence. The Employment Coordinator position provides services and interventions, including developing partnerships with community employers and organizations and providing direct support, services and program interventions to assist them with finding employment in the community.
The incumbent of these positions work in an institution (multiple security levels) or community location providing services and interventions to offenders who are under the supervision of the Correctional Service of Canada. All incumbents must be willing to work on a regular basis within a federal correctional environment, and have contact with offenders. Incumbents also have regular contact with other areas of CSC and the government, as well as stakeholder groups and members of the public.
A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to fill similar vacancies of permanent or temporary tenures within Correctional Service Canada.

A secondary school diploma, or a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma, or a successful completion of a provincially/territorially approved secondary school equivalency test.
Experience in intervening with and/or supporting individuals who are working on changing their behaviour.
Degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social Sciences or any other area relevant to the position.
Experience working in a correctional environment (institution or community based).
Experience working with Indigenous organizations or communities.
Experience working with Ethno-cultural (not including Indigenous) organizations or communities.
Experience providing interventions to individuals with mental health needs.
Experience providing interventions to women in conflict with the law.
Experience in developing partnerships with community based organizations.
Experience in developing partnerships with governmental departments (federal and/or provincial).
Experience in the delivery of skills based programs to a vulnerable population.
Experience providing employment services and/or counselling.
