Candidates must clearly demonstrate in the questionnaire how they meet the education and experience factors listed as essential qualifications on the Statement of Merit Criteria. Note that it is not sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. The Physical Security Abroad Division’s (AWC) mandate is to provide a safe and secure environment in facilities abroad and to ensure the security and safety of people, information and assets. The Division provides management, subject matter expertise, advice, guidance and consultation on the selection and application of current and emerging physical security safeguards and technologies (electronic and mechanical) at Chanceries, Official Residences and Staff Quarters abroad in response to changing global threat conditions.
This responsibility relates to Canada-based Staff and their families, for Global Affairs Canada and other government departments, for approximately 1700 Canada Based Staff (CBS) and over 2300 dependants posted abroad and for approximately 5000 Locally Engaged Staff (LES) while on the job at missions abroad.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions within Global Affairs Canada. Tenures and official language requirements and profiles may vary according to the positions being staffed.

Successful completion of a two-year post- secondary education program in the security systems, electro/mechanical field or employer-approved alternative in a related field
*Recent experience in the field of physical security or other similar technical fields (e.g. telecommunications company);
*Recent experience in providing technical-related advice, support and guidance to senior management, building contractors or architects;
Experience in the design layout or installation in one of the following:
1. Access Control System
2. Alarm System
3. Closed Circuit Television
4. Video Intercom System
5. Commercial Lock hardware

*Recent: Experience has been acquired within the last (5) years.
