Assessment accommodation

We are accepting applications until April 15, 2020 to create an inventory of qualified candidates. However, you should apply now! The first pull and review of applications will be completed on July 13, 2019.

Should the inventory be extended, the retest period for re-assessment within the context of this selection process is 180 calendar days from the date of elimination at either the prescreening, the written exam, interview, or reference stage of the process. If, after having been eliminated, you resubmit an application to this process, before the retest period has elapsed, your application will not be considered.

The inventory will be updated every 45 days.

HOW TO APPLY
Your application must include a covering letter that clearly outlines how you meet the education and each of the experience criteria listed in the essential qualifications and any of the applicable asset qualification of the Statement of Merit Criteria. Please use each of the education/experience factors as a header and provide relevant and concrete examples from your work history that clearly demonstrate how you acquired the experience. Be sure to include substantiating details that clearly outline the breadth of experience as well as relevant timelines. Resumes will only be used as a secondary source to validate the experience described in the covering letter.

This cover letter will be used, among other things, to assess the ability to communicate effectively in writing.**

Intent of the process

The results of this process will initially be used to staff (8) positions indeterminately.

A pool of candidates will be established to staff positions on an indeterminate basis and to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles (English or Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB), with various tenures (term, indeterminate) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed at Transport Canada. Consequently, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications will be contacted for further assessment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Possession of a medically valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License – Aeroplane Category with a valid Group I Instrument Rating AND possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical);
OR
Possession of a medically valid Canadian Commercial Pilot License – Helicopter Category with a valid Group IV Instrument Rating AND possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).

EXPERIENCE

Total of 2,500 hours of flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in either multiple engine aeroplanes OR Transport Category helicopters.

Experience in analyzing complex situations and making recommendations.

Experience in working with risk management concepts and principles.

Experience on advanced technology aircraft.

EDUCATION:
AED1: Degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
OR
Degree or diploma in Aviation Management or an aviation related field.
