When answering the screening questions, remember that the assessment board cannot make assumptions about your Education and Experience. It is not sufficient to say that you have the required qualifications or to list your current or past responsibilities. Rather, you must provide concrete examples with significant details to explain WHEN, WHERE and HOW you acquired each qualification. This is similar to what would be expected of you when asked to provide a concrete example of a particular situation in the context of an interview.

Work environment

The Forensic Facial Identification Unit is being established to deliver technical facial comparison services to support the CBSA operations, and other federal departments or agencies engaged in related activities. The forensic service will be responsible for: the resolution of complex identity related issues through the analysis and comparison of facial images, participation in facial comparison training, the production of reports on facial comparison examinations, fraud and impostor trend analysis, in addition to the implementation of forensic standards and conducting research in the area of facial matching and biometrics. The unit is part of the Forensic and Analytical Services Division, based at 14 Colonnade Road, Nepean (Ottawa).

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one (1) bilingual imperative CCC/CCC position for a determinate period of three (3) years. A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles as well as various security clearances within the Canada Border Services Agency.

- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Forensic Science, Anthropology or Criminal Justice.

- A graduate degree in Arts or Science from a recognized post-secondary institution.

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in a forensic comparative discipline, such as, but not limited to: Document Examination, Fingerprint examination, Digital Imaging Evidence or Facial Image Comparison

- Experience leading and implementing new projects.

- Experience in the area of biometrics or identity management.

- Experience participating on inter-agency, or international working groups.

- Experience providing technical explanations in simple terms to diverse audience.

- Experience delivering training to various audiences.

- Experience conducting facial review or facial image comparison examinations.

- Experience with image processing, such as: image enhancement, restoration and compression processes.

- Experience with video analysis, such as: video enhancement and extraction of single frames for image processing.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
- Willingness and ability to travel, as required.
