Your role

As Program Officer, you must be proactive in looking for innovative solutions, while gathering and evaluating the data in order to make the best decision for specific situations. You must also be able to work in a high volume, fast-paced working environment that is constantly evolving. More specifically, it referred to:

Your tasks

As a program officer, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Deliver programs: inform, advise, guide and promote.

As an example:
- Reaching Home : Canada’s Homelessness Strategy
- Youth Employment Strategy
- New Horizons for Seniors Program

• Planning and practicing effective monitoring activities related to the analysis and evaluation of activities relating to agreements and financial requests

• Participate in the evaluation, negotiation and recommendation of financial support for projects within the parameters established by the organization's program terms and conditions or guidelines

• Provide practical advice to managers, colleagues, recipients, external community partners and employers on the delivery of grants and contributions programs under their responsibility.

Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be created to staff temporary positions (term, acting, assignment and secondment) as well as permanent vacant positions (indeterminate, deployment) with various language requirements at the Program Directorate in Montreal and Laval. This process may be used to staff identical and/or similar positions.

Please note that the pool could be used to staff similar or identical positions at Service Canada – Quebec Region.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Recent* and significant** experience in customer service, including obtaining or communicating information that requires clarification.

Recent* and significant** experience in collaborating with external stakeholders, partners or collaborators.

Recent* and significant** experience refers to around six (6) consecutive months, approximately in the last three (3) years.

Successful completion of a two (2) year post-secondary diploma from a recognized academic institution*

For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE

Experience in providing services or delivering programs to the general public within a public administration.

Experience with basic principles of accounting policies

Experience in the use of the MS Office Suite software (Outlook, Word, and Excel) or similar software

Experience working with stakeholders and community partners
