As a Senior Surveyor (EN-SUR-03), you will provide advice to clients on legislative, regulatory, and common law principles related to boundaries, and historical boundary documents and survey practices and methodologies. Identify common law principles and mechanisms for boundary dispute resolution. In addition, you will prepare land descriptions and research reports; this work includes verifying the quality of boundary surveys, ensuring Provincial and CLS survey standards are met and proposing solutions to address deficiencies in boundary surveys. You will prepare requests for proposals for survey related contracts, developing in-house estimates of costs, evaluation and approval activities. You may organize, plan and conduct routine field surveys including inspections. You will develop and deliver boundary presentations at professional conferences and to clients groups as well as provide recommendations on the amendment of standards, survey guidelines procedures and policies for the regulation of legal land surveys.
As a Surveyor (EN-SUR-02), you will support the office in the provision of professional surveying advice and technical expertise to a variety of government clients and you will support in the assistance of surveying professionals and the public on all aspects of the Canada lands Survey System. You will work as part of a team to conduct field surveys and prepare survey requirements for contracting of legal surveys. You will work as part of a team to resolve complex boundary and land tenure issues. You will support the office in the review of survey returns from other professionals to ensure compliance with survey standards and tenure documents.

The immediate need is to staff one position either at the EN-SUR-03 or EN-SUR-02 group and level in Yellowknife, NT.
A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the EN-SUR-02 and EN-SUR-03 group and level within Natural Resources Canada in Yellowknife, NT, with various tenures (determinate period or permanent) and with various conditions of employment.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in land survey theory and practice or other related field such as geomatics, geodetic sciences or remote sensing.
OR
A Canada Lands Surveyor's commission AND licence to practice issued by the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors OR a licence or authority to practice as a land surveyor in any province in Canada.
Note: If this condition is met by having a licence or authority to practice as a land surveyor in a province, then the successful candidate must obtain a Canada Lands Surveyor's commission AND licence to practice within 2 years of appointment to the position.
EN-SUR-03:
A Canada Lands Surveyor's commission AND licence to practice issued by the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors OR a licence or authority to practice as a land surveyor in any province in Canada.
