Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff future vacancies. The results of this process may be used to staff same or similar positions for future vacancies in various locations across the Atlantic region of various tenures, and various linguistic profiles at Public Services and Procurement Canada in the Atlantic Region.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in land survey theory and practice or related field such as Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Geography (science degree) or an acceptable specialization.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Recent** experience in land or hydrographic surveying (including in a team environment) comprised of Engineers, Surveyors, Hydrographers and Technologists.
- Recent** experience in providing clients, organizations and management with technical advice on issues related to hydrography and hydrographic surveying.
- Experience using hydrographic data collection and processing software such as Hypack or Caris,
- Experience using computer drafting software such as AutoCAD and other software applications related to the further analysis of bathymetry for charting, engineering or environmental purposes.

* Experience can be demonstrated through employment or academic activity.
**Recent experience is defined as work experience acquired within the last three years.

Asset Qualifications: OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
- Licensed as a professional engineer in Canada or licensed as a professional land surveyor in Canada.
- Canadian Hydrographer Certification (Level I or Level II)
- Licensed as a Canada Lands Surveyor (CLS)
- Possession of a valid Class 3 provincial driver’s license (valid for single vehicle or combination, with a trailer towing endorsement to tow trailers in excess of 4500kg).

NOTE: Applicants must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to the position. - Must be willing to travel as required.
- Must be willing to work overtime as required.
- Must possess a valid Provincial driver’s license.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

- Upon appointment, the successful candidate must obtain certification as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province where the position to which he/she is appointed is based and must maintain this certification for the duration of his/her employment, if applicable.
- Willingness and ability to work in and around construction sites, wharf sites and remote locations including wearing protective equipment.
- Possession of a valid Provincial Driver’s License OR personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s license, within the limits of Treasury Board Policy.
- Willingness to travel frequently by car, boat or plane for short or long periods of time.
- Adherence to the PWGSC Code of Conduct
