Intent of the process

The immediate intention is to staff two positions in Gatineau. However, a pool of qualified candidates will be created and may used to staff identical or similar positions at Global Affairs Canada, with locations, tenures and language profiles that may vary according to the positions being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Significant* experience in managing the production of annual and ad-hoc reports for both domestic and international consumption.
• Experience in applying mathematical methods to complex datasets from internal and external databases.
• Experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, generating scenarios, recommendations and conclusions, and, providing briefing or advice to senior officials (director or above).

*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities normally acquired over a period of two years.

• Experience in using a Business Intelligence software (such as IBM Cognos) to create data extraction queries.
• Experience in coordinating the tasks of a small team, provide coaching and supervision.

• Knowledge of financial instruments such as grants, contributions, loans, etc..
• Knowledge of mathematical methods and techniques, particularly in normal distribution and trend analysis and projection.
