The GIS and data management officer will provide GIS analysis and mapping technical support to programs in CWS Northern Region. He/she will create, design, and maintain spatial and information data files and databases for the Region. He/she will be responsible for quality assurance of the Region's databases.
A qualified pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff this position and similar positions on an acting, term or indeterminate basis.

Education:
ED1- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience:
EXP1- Experience designing and producing various types of geospatial products to support programs and projects.
EXP2- Experience compiling, integrating and documenting multiscale geospatial data from various sources in the context of wildlife habitat or ecosystem planning or species conservation.
EXP3- Experience in developing and managing large and complex databases and in ensuring quality control of data sets.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
AsED1- Graduation with an advanced degree (Masters, Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
AsED2- Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Experience:
AEXP1 - Experience in the analysis of geospatial data pertaining to wildlife, habitat or ecosystems.
AEXP2 - Experience working effectively with Indigenous communities and governments, federal/territorial government departments, regulators, environmental non-government organizations, or industry on environmental protection or wildlife issues.
AEXP3- Experience with the coding language and performing analysis within R Studio.
AEXP4-Experience manipulating and querying data within Microsoft Access databases.
