Intent of the process

The immediate need is to fill one indeterminate (permanent) position located at 70, Cremazie Street in Gatineau, Quebec. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and used to staff future vacancies for various tenures (permanent and/temporary).

EDUCATION:
A bachelor's or master's degree in translation from a recognized university.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:
- *Significant experience in reviewing and evaluating the work of translators, revisers or other language experts
- Experience in providing advice and recommendations to language professionals and management
- Experience in the development of teaching materials for training or learning activities

*Significant experience refers to a rich and diversified experience normally acquired over the past five (5) years.

Information on language requirements

ABILITIES:
- Ability to prepare and facilitate workshops on the professional aspects of translation, revision or writing
- Ability to assess the quality of texts written in English or translated into English
- Ability to provide advice to improve the work of translators or revisers and to make recommendations
- Ability to plan and organize work and set priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively in front of a group

A practical exam will be administered; an interview will be conducted and reference checks will be sought. Please note that the practical exam will be held in Gatineau, Quebec. Consequently, candidates must make themselves available to take part in the testing sessions in person as well as to cover travel related expenses.

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
