You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Failing to do so could result in your application being rejected.
You must provide 2 supervisory references and one other work reference that is familiar with your work and personal suitability at the application stage of this assessment. You must include an email address and a phone number for each reference. Although only those candidates who are successfully screened into the assessment process may have their references contacted, by providing the references, you are consenting to these individuals being contacted.
Candidates may be assessed using one or more of the following tools: written exam, interview and reference checks.
Interviews for this process will be completed via pre-recorded video interviews. Candidates will be asked to record their responses to interview questions using their own computer or mobile device.
Information on the video interview process will be sent to candidates who are selected for an interview at a later date.
General duties are as follows, however, some duties may vary throughout the different programs.
1. Conducts compliance promotion activities, inspections, compliance verifications, investigations and enforces the provisions of the applicable acts and regulations using a full range of mechanisms and prepares reports on compliance violations by regulated parties, identifies corrective actions and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure that regulated parties meet compliance requirements.
2. Provides scientific, regulatory and technical advice and information to management and contributes to issue prioritization and the development of compliance and enforcement strategies using risk management approach.
3. Does consultations and workshops with stakeholders to inform and educate with respect to the elements and activities of the Program.
4. Participation in meetings and committees to contribute to the development of legislation or regulations, guidelines, policies and standards.
5. Provides scientific, regulatory and technical advice and guidance to stakeholders, regulated industry, health care professionals, academia, other government agencies and the Canadian public using a variety of means including responses to individual enquiries, input into public advisories and the development and presentation of seminars.
6. Represents the department, as a Regional spokesperson when responding to media enquiries and at legal proceedings as part of the compliance and enforcement responsibilities.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in microbiology, chemistry, mechanical engineering, pharmacy, food science, or some other specialty related to the position.
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
The proof of education will be required during the process. Candidates MUST make arrangements to ensure that these documents (i.e. proof of education and occupational certification) are available upon request. Should your degree not be in one of the specified categories, a transcript of marks will need to be provided in order to ensure that the specialization has been met. Candidates will be provided with instructions during the process indicating how to submit the document(s). If possible, candidates should have these documents scanned for quick availability.
Experience:
EX1: Experience providing technical advice or scientific interpretations related to compliance or enforcement on operating procedures, policies, guidelines or legislation.
EX2: Significant* experience in the execution of compliance, regulatory or enforcement activities in an operational environment such as:
