Duties

We’re looking for innovative and enthusiastic Training Specialists to join our ranks. Your main responsibilities would be to work with our clients in the various programs to identify and analyze training needs before designing, developing, delivering, evaluating and validating this training for Transport Canada inspectors and technical experts. You’ll have the opportunity to be part of a team of 30 training specialists, designers and graphic artists devoted to developing classroom, blended and e-learning courses in a variety of fields related to transportation such as aviation, maritime, rail, road, emergency preparedness, dangerous goods, and other connected fields. We are located at 330 Sparks (corner of Lyon), near major OC Transpo and STO routes, and we’ll soon have an LRT station within our building.

A pool of partially or essentially assessed candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions with various tenures (such as Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Secondment, Specified period), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:
ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.

When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:
EX1: Experience in applying the Systems Approach to Training in an adult education environment.

EX2: Experience in facilitating and managing multidisciplinary teams involved in the design and delivery of courses.

EX3: Experience in providing advice to senior management** on complex*** issues.

EX4: Recent* experience in researching trends in instructional design and in seeking alternative means of learning program delivery.

*Recent experience is within the last three (3) years.

** Senior Management: Up to the Director level.

***Complex: Experience will be assessed with the amount, scope and diversity of work handled and level of autonomy demonstrated. Candidates have to provide clear and specific examples in their application.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Please note, as part of this work, the employee needs to be capable of transporting, manipulating and lifting training equipment that could reach a weight of 15kg.
- Candidates must be willing and able to work overtime and to adopt flexible work hours as per operational requirements.
- Candidates must be willing and able to travel nationally as required.
