EDUCATION:
Common to all streams
A degree** from a recognized post-secondary institution.
**Degree: A baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by educational authorities.
Note: Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
Experience
Common to all streams
EXP1-Experience in researching, writing and editing communications or marketing documents for various audiences. These might include but are not limited to presentations, communications plans, news releases, backgrounders, speaking notes, fact sheets, media lines, media responses, media analyses, brochures, articles, scripts, blog posts, or social media messages.
Stream 1, Media Relations
EXP1-Recent* experience in responding to media inquiries or experience in client service.
EXP2-Recent* experience in doing media monitoring, analysis and media lines for senior management.
Stream 2, Social Media
EXP1-Recent* experience in monitoring and managing content for publication in social media on behalf of a department, private business or organization.
EXP2-Recent* experience in developing social media strategies and campaigns and in measuring their success (metrics).
Stream 3, Communications Officer
EXP1-Recent* experience in providing management and clients with strategic advice, options or approaches using various communications tactics and tools to meet communications objectives and reach targeted audiences.
EXP2-Recent* experience in developing and coordinating communications projects that include multiple communications products and activities, such as (but not limited to) speeches, publications, media lines, questions and answers, articles, blogs, videos, infographics, marketing campaigns, digital content and branding initiatives
*Recent experience is defined as experience normally acquired within the past 3 years, for all streams.

Operational Requirements
Stream 1
Work must be done on-site. Must be available for work either from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For all streams
Ability and willingness to work overtime and/or stand by during week days and on weekends.
