Education:
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialty in a scientific area related to the duties of the position.
You must be prepared to provide the original or a certified true copy of your educational credentials.
Experience:
- Recent* and significant** experience in leading and managing science-based activities in the public or private sector.
- Significant** managerial experience in developing and evaluating science proposals, work plans and resource allocations to ensure that research projects are technically sound and contribute to key outcomes in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Experience in providing clear and articulate advice, recommendations, and writing and presenting briefing material to senior officials on complex science and management issues.
- Experience in setting direction and providing leadership to inform or influence national programs, services, policies or regulatory priorities.
- Experience in developing and maintaining strategic collaborations and partnerships with senior officials and technical experts at various levels of government, industry associations, private companies, universities, and/or non-government organizations.
- Experience facilitating partnerships and alliances to advance the mandate, priorities and vision of an organization.
- Experience in managing financial and human resources. (Please indicate number of employees supervised as well as size and type of budget managed.)
*Recent is defined as experience acquired over the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are normally acquired over a period of at least two (2) years.

Operational Requirement:
- Ability and willingness to travel within Canada and internationally
- Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice.

- Depth, breadth, type of work-specific experience;
- Level/degree of one or more competencies/qualifications.
Depending on the number of applicants and CGC's needs, volume management strategies such as random selection, top-down approach and/or establishing cut-off scores to determine who will continue in the staffing process, may be used for the purpose of managing applications. Please note that although you may attain the established pass mark on any of the assessments used in this staffing process, management may decide to use a higher cut off score.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
