• Participate in the enhancement of the Directorate’s suite of integrated assessment models and computable general equilibrium models.
• Prepare written summaries of work undertaken in support of the enhancement of the Directorate’s suite of integrated assessment models and computable general equilibrium models.
• Conduct economic analysis on transition to a low-carbon economy.

Education:

Currently enrolled in a Master of Economics, Engineering or Mathematics program or Doctorate in Economics, Engineering or Mathematics program at a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

Knowledge:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package, XML and GAMS.

Why you are right for this job:

• You have studied economics at the master’s level or above (majority of positions available); or environmental studies with a strong economics or environmental policy focus.
• You have an understanding of economic theory and the principles underlying quantitative modeling tools such as integrated assessment models and computable general equilibrium models.
• You have conducted analysis using an integrated assessment model (e.g., GCAM, DICE, MERGE) and GAMS-based models (please specify the models)
• You can demonstrate an interest in environmental or natural resource economics, or environmental policy.
• You are comfortable with inter-disciplinary and interpersonal communication.
• You are able to explain economic and/or environmental concepts to nonexperts.
• You have excellent writing skills; you have prepared and have the capacity to present professional documents and presentations.
• You display initiative and sound judgment.
• You are self-motivated and dependable.
