The Digital Services Directorate (DSD) supports Canadians by providing easy, fast and convenient access to information and services online, as well as through phone operations (such as the 1 800 O-Canada service). The digital teams in DSD include the Principal Publisher that operates Canada.ca on behalf of Government of Canada (GC) departments, Secure Digital Solutions that manages My Service Canada Account and My Service Canada Business Account, and Portfolio Web that manages the internet and intranet for all of ESDC, Service Canada, and the Labour Program.

Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to staff three (3) positions:

- Officer, Client Services
- Web Developer
- Business Systems Analyst

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff future positions with various tenures, similar requirements, various language requirements and profiles, and various security requirements, depending on the position being staffed.

EDUCATION

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

EX1 - Experience coordinating projects or components of projects.

EX2 - Experience researching, interpreting, analyzing and synthesizing data from various sources (e.g. web, survey, social media, or other sources) to report on performance of services and operations.

EX3 - Recent* experience developing recommendations and providing advice to management (supervisor or higher).

* Recent experience means experience gained in the last two years.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the position.

EXPERIENCE

AEX1 - Experience in leading and/or participating in website usability testing.

AEX2 - Experience maintaining website information architectures.

AEX3 - Experience working with web content management systems, such as TeamSite, Wordpress, Drupal etc.

AEX4 - Experience in developing documentation for the Web, such as Web style guidelines and reference tools; content assistance tools such as templates and Web publishing aides; and/or operational procedures and guidelines.

AEX5 - Experience providing quality assurance of Web content with regards to Government of Canada Web standards compliance, and overall quality control (spelling, formatting consistency, etc.).

AEX6 - Experience with supporting or maintaining secure digital applications or portals.

AEX7 - Experience providing and/or developing training or information courses.

AEX8 - Recent* experience liaising with clients or stakeholders to develop and implement digital-based projects or service delivery strategies.

* Recent experience means experience gained in the last two years.

KNOWLEDGE

K1 - Knowledge of website operations management or website design principles.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Willing and able to work overtime on short notice.

Willingness to work flexible hours.

Ability and willingness to perform on call duty for weekends, as required.

TRAVEL RELATED TO THE SELECTION OR APPOINTMENT PROCESS: Please note that candidates (including employees of the Public Service) will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and that travel costs or travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
