The position to staff is located in the Chief Finance, Results and Delivery Officer Sector at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). However, the process could be used to staff positions with different sectors of the Department and within the department of Natural Resources Canada.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in working as a team member to deliver geospatial solutions and mapping products to clients.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in collecting, organizing, editing and storage of geospatial data.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) software such as ArcGIS to deliver geographic based products.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience analyzing and producing visualizations from various geographic framework and thematic datasets.
Experience conducting research in a multitude of geomatics sectors (e.g. private sector, public sector, academia and others) to gather information needed to advise clients.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
Other positions may be staffed in the future using various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC)

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of current trends and challenges in the field of geography and earth observation.
Knowledge of geomatics software applications to various fields of expertise such as but not limited to remote sensing, 3D modelling, spatial analysis and mapping.
Knowledge of web publishing, cartographic and metadata standards.
ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to prioritize and balance competing work requirements.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
(Not essential, but preference may be given to candidates who possess asset qualifications).
EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree (Masters or higher level degree) from a recognized post-secondary institution acceptable specialization in: geography, geographic information system (GIS), earth sciences, 3 Dimensional (3D) modelling, computer science or surveying engineering or another science discipline relevant to the positions.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working on Indigenous or northern community programs or projects.
Experience in developing web mapping applications or Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Story Maps.
Experience in processing and interpreting 3D geomatics, geophysics and geology data.
Experience deploying geographic information system (GIS) solutions in cloud environments.
Experience developing geomatics solutions with Artificial Intelligence methodologies.
