Assessment accommodation

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis in Ottawa, Ontario.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the Health Portfolio with:

* various tenures,
* various language requirements and linguistic profiles,
* various security requirements,
* various locations and/or
* various conditions of employment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics
Note:
Candidates must always have a degree.

The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Significant* experience in conducting strategic policy analysis
2. Significant* experience providing written and verbal briefings for consideration by senior managers or other stakeholders.
3. Experience working collaboratively with a range of domestic and international health stakeholders

Note:
*Significant is defined as having a minimum 3 years’ experience

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of Government of Canada priorities in chronic disease prevention.
2. Knowledge of Government of Canada priorities in global health
3. Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies

Abilities:
1. Ability to develop and manage collaborative multi-disciplinary policy and research initiatives
2. Ability to analyze and synthesize diverse information and develop policy advice.
3. Ability to communicate effectively orally
4. Ability to communicate effectively in writing

Personal Suitability:

Education:
1. Masters degree in a health science or health policy discipline

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Recent* experience leading public health research initiatives
2. Recent* experience with field work in public health or global health
3. Published research in public health or global health topics (3 or more publications)

Abilities:
1. Ability to speak Spanish

Operational requirement:
1. Willingness to work overtime
