Canada, through the creation of Indigenous Services Canada and Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, has demonstrated a commitment to ensure that we are working with Indigenous Peoples to measure progress and improve service delivery on an ongoing basis. This is founded on a principle of a renewed, nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous Peoples, based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation, and partnership.

Indigenous Services Canada is committed to the identification of the best models for delivering improved services to Indigenous Peoples and improve accountability to Indigenous Peoples for the quality of services delivered, including:

- Work to leverage the ingenuity and understanding of Indigenous Peoples as well as experts from the private sector, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments and international experts on service delivery. It will be expected for you to assess how Indigenous Peoples experience the delivery of government services on a day-to-day basis and identify ways to improve delivery that are holistic, community-based, and put the needs of the person first.

INDIAN MONEYS OFFICER:
This position supports the vision of the First Nation and the department through a collaborative partnership with First Nations communities, requiring the incumbent to navigate legislative and policy frameworks in an evolving environment. This position will be focused on a Nation-to-Nation relationship while being founded on client oriented service results. A key requirement is to have a solid understanding of current legislation and Alberta First Nation’s desire to become more autonomous in the management and access to Indian Moneys.

FIELD SERVICES OFFICER:
Working in the Education and First Nation Relations Treaty 6 Directorate, is an exciting position that allows for the opportunity to balance being a primary contact in the Field, engaging with First Nation leadership and administration, with various Programs and Services provided by Indigenous Services Canada. This will require an individual with leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team.

SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER:
With the creation of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and the transformation of education, this position will be part of a team that will support First Nations to build a strong, community-based, linguistically and culturally-appropriate education system for their students. Our vision is to support First Nation control of First Nation education by establishing a nation-to-nation relationship that strengthens First Nation education, focusing on sufficient, predictable and sustained funding. Key activities of the position will include planning, developing and managing programs, projects and services. This position will require an individual with leadership skills, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar permanent and/or temporary vacancies in Edmonton, Alberta.

EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a diploma or a degree from a post-secondary institution in business administration, accounting, finance or management or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

OR

an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. The experience component of this is defined as significant (2 years or more) experience in leading and managing project teams including engagement with stakeholders, planning and implementation/monitoring of financial allocations.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in providing advice and recommendations to management.
- Experience in networking and consulting with various stakeholders.
- Experience working on teams, working in groups or projects.
- Experience preparing management reports (including but not limited to briefing material or financial analysis).

- Experience advising and negotiating with client organizations on complex issues.

- Knowledge of key programs and initiatives of federal departments and other external agencies which can have an impact on First Nations community development.
