Assessment accommodation

Courts Administration Service (CAS) pays it employees through Phoenix, but has its own Compensation services which include direct access to a Compensation Advisor in Ottawa for timely resolution of any pay issues that arise.

Duties

CHAUFFEURS
Inspect the CAS vehicles before and after each transport to ensure that everything is in working order, it has enough fuel for the transport and that the vehicle is clean. This means to vacuum and wash the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
Notify the supervisor of any deficiencies or damages to CAS vehicles as well as if it was left in an unclean state.
Planning: research the safest route, plan for major delays on the selected route before taking the road with a Member of the Courts or when delivering confidential documents.
Log every transport as per the TBS Directive on Fleet Management. Abide by established procedures and protocols as well as keep up-to-date on relevant sections of the Highway Traffic Act and provincial and municipal laws and by-laws.

OPERATIONS
Assume dispatch duties when requested by the Supervisor:
- Noting and acknowledging new requests by phone, by email or in person request.
- Assigning transports and hearings as required.
Conduct inspection of sites prior to events to conduct threat assessment evaluations and provide recommendations.
Provide a security presence during events, conferences and seminars when requested.
Occasionally assume Security Operations Centre duties when requested, this means answering queries by phone, by email, by radio or in person as well as monitoring CCTV system and alarms.
Occasionally assume Court Usher functions when requested this means:
- The setup and tear down of the courtroom after the hearing; support the Registry Officer as required.
- Escort Justice/Prothonotary from and to their chambers to the courtroom.
Support administrative tasks such as the monthly reconciliation of receipts and vehicle logs as well as data entry and inventory of the supplies.

At minimum a post-secondary school diploma in a field related to the position or acceptable combination of education, training or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience in the provision of advice and services on security matters.

Experience writing draft reports for clients/managers on security related matters.

Experience in the provision of security services.

Experience in dealing with internal and external clients/stakeholders.

Use of force certification

Experience driving company owned vehicles for business purposes.

Experience working in a Security Operations Centre, which includes experience in the operation of a Closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, radio dispatch or access control systems.

Experience working within a judicial or quasi-judicial environment.

Experience leading or supporting administrative investigations.

Possession of a valid G class Driver's License or equivalent

Willingness and able to work flexible hours.

Willing and able to lift items weighing up to 25 kilograms.

Willing and able to work outside of core hours (07:00 to 18:00) including evenings, weekends and designated holidays.

Willing and able to do overtime on short notice.

Willing and able to wear uniforms provided by the employer.

Willing and able to wear protective wear provided by the employer.

Willing and able to travel outside of the National Capital Region and outside of Canada.

Willing and able to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract dated no later than 60 days before the date of appointment. The candidate will be required to re-submit a driver’s abstract on an annual basis.
