Work environment

We are looking to build an inventory of qualified candidates to provide administrative support to a variety of units within E Division's Criminal Operations Branch. Hired candidates will be located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Individual work units within this Branch provide direct support to operational policing efforts and the anticipated job opportunities are diverse! Qualified candidates may be referred to units that support Criminal Analysis, Investigations, Exhibits, Aboriginal Policing Services, Operational Communication Centres, Traffic Services, and more.

Intent of the process

Anticipatory
A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis, on a casual basis, at full or part time hours) located in the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley. A majority of the positions will be located in E Division Headquarters in Surrey, BC.


Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Recent* experience in providing administrative support services in an office environment.

Recent* experience in managing a filing system in an office environment.

* “Recent experience” means performance of duties within approximately the last 18 months.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Experience performing administrative support duties in a police and/or law enforcement environment.
Experience in using police and/or law enforcements databases such as PRIME, JUSTIN, TEAM, ARI, etc.
Experience in using a database in a work setting.
Experience in coordinating and making travel arrangements.
Experience in purchasing office supplies.
Experience in purchasing police equipment.
Experience in processing documentation for staff transfers.
Experience in assisting Public Complaints and Code of Conduct investigations.
Experience in using HRMIS in an operational setting.
Experience in Fleet management.
Experience in providing information management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, archiving or destroying data.
Experience in conducting quality assurance.
Experience in handling court-related or legal administrative support services.
Experience in tracking, securing or storing sensitive material.

Conditions of employment

Obtain a valid RCMP security clearance at a minimum of Enhanced Reliability Status. Some positions may require Secret or Top Secret security clearance.

Some of the positions being staffed require the possession of a valid driver’s license or mobility normally associated with the possession of a driver’s license. In these cases, this will be a condition of employment.

Some of the positions being staffed require the willingness and ability to travel and work away from the home unit for extended periods of time and on short notice.

Some of the positions being staffed require the willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.

Some of the positions being staffed require the willingness and ability to lift/move boxes and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
