Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff two (2) indeterminate positions.

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established through this selection process in order to fill identical or similar positions with various tenures, various security requirements and various linguistic profiles.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION :

Edu. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in social science, museum studies, history, art history, library or archival studies, information management or information technology.

NOTE: an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience that is comparable to the minimum education stated above, may serve as an alternative.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Ex1. Significant* experience in documenting and in managing museum collections.
Ex2. Significant* experience in analyzing, manipulating and interpreting various dataset in digital format and data standards within the cultural or heritage sector.
Ex3. Significant* experience in providing strategic advice to senior management** on museum issues, including written and oral briefings.
Ex4. Experience in developing, maintaining and supporting online products and services for the heritage sector.
Ex5. Experience in conducting research to identify issues and in analyzing and summarizing information as well as in providing recommendations on heritage products and services.

*Significant experience is normally associated with full-time experience for a minimum of two (2) years within the last five (5) years.
**Senior management is defined as Directors and above.

AEdu. Master’s degree in museum studies or related field.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

A written exam, an interview and reference checks may be part of the candidate’s assessment.

Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials, in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

All information obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, could be used to evaluate the candidates, including the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally and effective interpersonal skills.

COMMUNICATIONS

For this process, we find that email is the most efficient way to communicate with you. Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
