Intent of the process

The immediate need is to fill one permanent position. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and used to staff future vacancies for various tenures (permanent and/temporary).

EDUCATION

A degree in conference interpretation from a recognized post-secondary institution.

In accordance with the 1998 agreement with the Translation Bureau's Union, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the TR group who do not possess the education level prescribed above are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years of experience within the last 10 years as a permanent interpreter at the TR-03 group and level; or as an interpreter accredited by the Translation Bureau.

A practical exam will be administered; an interview will be conducted and reference checks will be sought. Please note that the practical exam will be held in Ottawa, Ontario. Consequently, candidates must make themselves available to take part in the testing sessions in person as well as to cover travel related expenses. Alternative arrangements for testing sessions in other regions may be considered only in exceptional circumstances.
