Please be advised this process will be used to staff positions in the new department of Indigenous Services Canada. The creation of Indigenous Services Canada is an important development in our renewed relationship with Indigenous peoples. These structural changes will allow our government to work more effectively with Indigenous partners to provide services that improve people’s day-to-day quality of life.
Non-Insured Health Benefits is a unit of Indigenous Services Canada which is the Federal department responsible for helping First Nations and Inuit people of Canada to maintain and improve their health, while respecting individual choices and circumstances.

Intent of the process

The intent is to staff this position via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar, term and/or permanent positions, acting, assignments/secondments, or deployments.

EDUCATION:

Both Stream 1 (PM-02) & 2 (PM-03):
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Both Stream 1 (PM-02) & 2 (PM-03):
-Significant* experience reviewing and processing applications or submissions or requests against relevant policies or guidelines.

*Significant is defined as at least one year of experience.

Experience providing frontline client services.

Experience providing recommendations to leadership on policy or program or client-service related issues.

Experience working effectively with First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.

Stream 2 – PM03:
Experience preparing written documents such as proposals or briefing notes or business plans.

Experience working with community based or not for profit organizations

In alignment with the Aboriginal People’s Employment Program (APEP) in support of strategically increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of FNIHB’s target population, selection may be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal candidates must use the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).

Operational Requirements:

-Mobility usually associated with a Class V driver’s license
