Environmental Public Health Officers (EPHOs) provide advice, guidance, education, public health inspections and recommendations to First Nations and their leadership to help them manage public health risks associated with the environment. They gather data required to analyze the steps that can be taken to promote public health in First Nations communities. EPHOs visit First Nations to do inspections, investigations and provide education and training sessions. Routine activities are delivered as per community workplans that are agreed upon by Environmental Public Health Officers and Chiefs and Councils each year. EPHOs identify potential public health risks in First Nations communities and provide recommendations on how to correct them.
The intention of the process is to fill the following position (s):
- POSITION TITLE: EPHOs 2 positions
A pool of candidates could be created to fill similar positions of varying lengths, language profiles, and conditions of employment.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
A post-secondary school diploma in public health inspection from a recognized Canadian institution or in the process of obtaining the diploma (by December 31, 2019).
Or
Currently holding a certificate as an inspector in environmental public health Canada (C.P.H.I.C.) issued by the Canadian Institute of Inspectors in Environmental Public Health or in the process of obtaining the certificate (by December 31, 2019).
Applicants submitting education credentials from a non-Canadian institution are responsible for obtaining certification that these credentials are the equivalent of the Canadian education level required for the position.

Official languages proficiency will not be assessed for entry to the pool. Candidates entered in the pool will have an opportunity for assessment of their official languages proficiency when they are considered for an appointment.

c) For this selection process, the ISC will communicate with you by email. You must provide a valid email address to which you wish to receive communication regarding this selection process. You must ensure that you check your email account including spam or other folders regularly as there may be a deadline for responses. If you respond past the deadline you risk being removed from the selection process.
d) Applicants who are screened in to this selection process will be sent further information by email regarding what to expect during subsequent phases of this selection process.
e) Depending on the number of applicants, ISC's needs and ISC HR plans, volume management strategies such as, but not limited to, top-down approach, cut-off scores, random selection and/or assessment may be used for the purpose of managing applications/candidates. Should a volume management strategy be used, communication regarding the application of the strategy will be provided to those candidates who are impacted.
f) During the application or assessment process both cheating and plagiarism are considered forms of misconduct and are not permitted. Any person found cheating, including those who help others to cheat, may be subject to removal from the selection process.
g) You will be asked to provide proof of your education credentials later in the process.
h) Various assessment tools may be used in this selection process such as: reference checks, written tests, an interview, etc.
i) All written and verbal communication obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, may be used to evaluate the candidate.
