Work environment

The Information Management + Technology (IM+T) Branch, within the British Columbia RCMP Division, is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining information, communication and computer technologies. We provide our clients with excellent service at all times and provide our employees with a healthy work environment by creating a respectful workplace, working as a team and putting our clients’ needs first and foremost. The right candidates will work within a cohesive team to achieve the desired outcomes for their respective goals. The Branch is located in the RCMP Headquarters in Surrey, B.C. where it is nestled within the Green Timbers Urban Forest.

The work environment is in an office setting, primarily with the Government of Canada Workplace 2.0 strategy. The IM+T Branch office space utilizes a combination of this and functional workspaces that is both collaborative and interactive. Employees work a 37.5 hour work week, Monday through Friday with some flexibility to work variable start times or completing their hours of work over 8 or 9 days instead of 10 in a two week period. IT Stream:
The Information Technology Lifecycle Management Unit provides direction, support and guidance in the full spectrum of IT Asset Lifecycle management to all users of computer hardware and software. We also research and anticipate the needs of our clients to provide procurement solutions in a timely manner. We are proactive, innovative and strive to be knowledgeable regarding new technologies.

The Management Services Section supports the IM+T Officer and Branch through the centralized management of Finance, Human Resources, Personnel Security, Strategic Planning and other administrative support functions. This approach uses economies of scale and subject matter expertise to provide in-depth knowledge and services in a consistent and standardized manner.

IM Stream:
The Information Management Section provides awareness, guidance and governance support on the life cycle management of administrative and operational records to ensure compliance with policies, directives and legislation. IMS promotes information and records as organizational assets and ensures IM practices result in timely and accurate information to support operations and front line policing.

This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff 4 permanent and temporary vacancies. A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent and temporary vacancies in similar or lower-level positions.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.
