EDUCATION
• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
• *Recent and significant work experience in one of the following fields: Carmen; Machinist or Electrician within a Canadian railway company.
*Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities normally acquired over a period of five (5) years; and the performance of those duties within the last ten (10) years.

• **Recent experience as a supervisor in the application of one of the rules pertaining to railway equipment:
I. Railway Freight and Passenger Train Brake Inspection and Safety Rules.
II. Railway Locomotive Inspection and Safety Rules.
III. Railway Passenger Car Inspection and Safety Rules.
IV. Railway Freight Car Inspection and Safety Rules.
**Recent work experience is understood to mean the performance of those duties within the past three (3) years.
KNOWLEDGES
• Knowledge of the Railway Locomotive Inspection and Safety Rules.
• Knowledge of the Railway Passenger Car Inspection and Safety Rules.
• Knowledge of the Railway Freight Car Inspection and Safety Rules.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness and ability to work overtime, including nights, weekends and stand-by (on call).
• Willingness and ability to work in adverse environments and weather conditions.
• Willingness and ability to work alone in isolated areas.
• Reliability status security clearance.
• Possession of a valid Provincial Driver’s License.
• Willingness and ability to travel on short notice for extended periods using all modes of transportation.
• Physical environment: This position requires, on occasion, physical effort to climb structures and equipment of facilities on sites where the access is difficult and the terrain rugged.
