EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in biology, toxicology or some other science relevant to the position.
Candidates must always have a university degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
E1. Experience providing scientific advice related to environmental public health issues
E2. Experience participating in a multi-disciplinary research working group.
E3. Experience in using major statistical software (such as SPSS, STATA, SAS, etc.) to conduct statistical analysis of human health research data.
E4. Experience using common business software and spreadsheets, such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
KNOWLEDGE:
K1: Knowledge of Canadian and international human biomonitoring surveys.
K2: Knowledge of environmental chemicals of concern to First Nations in Canada.
K3: Knowledge of environmental contaminants programs that benefit First Nations (e.g.. the First Nations Food, Nutrition and Environment Study, the First Nations Environment Contaminants Program and other studies of contaminants in water, soil, tissues and traditional foods).

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Possession of a graduate degree in a discipline relevant to Environmental Health.
EXPERIENCE:
AEX1: Experience developing or delivering environmental projects, research or studies.
AEX2: Experience in working in collaboration with non-governmental organizations, industry
representatives or other groups of interest.
AEX3: Experience in preparing contribution agreements.
AEX4: Experience working on human health related issues with Aboriginal organizations, government, and/or stakeholders
AEX5: Experience in project management
ORGANIZATIONAL NEED:
In alignment with the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program (APEP) in support of increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of FNIHB’s target population, selection may be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal candidates must use the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).
OPERATIONAL NEED:
May be required to work overtime on weekdays or weekends.
Willing and able to travel as required.
