The CGC is a significant part of Canada’s dynamic and diverse agriculture sector. We regulate grain handling in Canada, set grain standards and conduct research on grain. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used for similar indeterminate, specified period employment, acting appointments, assignments, secondments or deployments.

Education:
• Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in microbiology or related discipline or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Education/Training:
• Successful completion of a Degree, Diploma or Certificate from a recognized University or College program in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Completion of biosafety or biosecurity training.
Experience:
• Experience providing a range of occupational health and safety support services to management, employees and committees.
• Experience working in a laboratory in which hazardous materials were used.
• Experience working in a biocontainment and or bio-secure laboratory.
• Experience as a workplace health and safety committee member or health and safety representative.
• Experience delivering training.
• Experience in incident investigation, such as accidents, security breaches, equipment failures, or other related activities that require assessing contributing factors or determining root cause.

• Ability and willingness to be exposed to grain and flour dust / soil, and to outdoor conditions in an industrial environment. Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication, and must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.
• Ability and willingness to be exposed to hazardous microorganisms, chemicals and equipment while using all required personal protective equipment and following safe work procedures.
