KEY ACTIVITIES
1. Planning, organizing and controlling the activities and operations of the Lease Administration Unit. This unit works closely with counterpart provincial agencies for the purposes of negotiations, leasing, pooling and monitoring activity.
2. Planning, organizing and controlling the activities and operations relating to Lease Administration negotiations and provides direction to the Lease Unit. Approves surface agreements to ensure they reflect what was negotiated and that they meet all internal, contractual and regulatory requirements.
3. Analyzing, evaluating and recommending on surface and seismic issues such as fair compensation values (consideration, and permitting and access fees), management of seismic data, and policies of competitive leasing regimes. Negotiating and resolving surface land issues regarding compliance and enforcement, while maintaining an effective working relationship with First Nations and Industry.
IOGC is located away from Calgary's downtown core at the west end of Anderson Road on Tsuu T'ina First Nation lands.
This is a full-time indeterminate position. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar term and/or indeterminate positions.

1. A Certificate or Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in an oil and gas or land related field; or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
1. Extensive* experience in the management, development and implementation of land policies preferably as it relates to oil and gas programs, guidelines and regulatory measures *Extensive is defined as experience that would be acquired over a period of 9-10 years
2. Experience in providing advice concerning the management of oil and gas resources
3. Experience in supervising a team of professionals
4. Experience in human and financial resource management

1. Knowledge and understanding of applicable Federal and Provincial legislative and regulatory regimes and policies pertaining to the oil and gas industry with emphasis on the Indian Oil and Gas Act and Regulations
2. Knowledge of surface practices, of the relationship between the development of minerals and surface land and of land tenure systems including Provincial title systems
3. Knowledge of the principles of exploration and development of oil and gas

A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an oil and gas or land related field
A professional membership in a land related association
Experience working with industry and First Nations in an oil and gas role

IOGC is an organization committed to managing and regulating oil and gas resources on First Nation reserve lands. It is a special operating agency within Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada. IOGC is responsible for the administration of oil and gas resources on First Nation reserve lands across Canada, primarily south of the 60th parallel. Most of IOGC's work is in Western Canada in the area of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.
