ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY IN WRITING
Please note that if you are being selected at the prescreening phase you will have to provide 2 samples of your own writing in the language of your choice (maximum five (5) pages each). The documents could be reports, briefing notes, or other documents that relate to your work or school environment and demonstrate your ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Our first intention is to staff an indeterminate position with a bilingual imperative CCC/CCC linguistic profile.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions with different status (determinate, acting, indeterminate, secondment), linguistic profiles (bilingual imperative CBC/CBC, BBB/BBB, CCC/CCC) and security levels within Library and Archives Canada.

Education :
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master's degree in library science or in library and information science (MLS) completed or in the process of being completed*
Note:
*Students must obtain their Master's degree by the end of August 2019 in order to be considered in the process.
Experience :
Experience in selection or acquisition or cataloguing or creation of metadata or collection management or reference services for published material.
Experience in serving the public in activities that provide access to resources or services.
Bilingual - Imperative (CCC/CCC)

Knowledge
Knowledge of the mandate of Library and Archives Canada as it relates to published heritage.

Education :
A post-secondary degree in Canadian History or a related discipline or significant* Canadian history research experience.
*Significant : 3 months and more
Experience in providing reference services in a library or an archives.
Experience in using online and analog research tools as part of a major*** research project or in a professional environment
***Major: a significant article, a book, a thesis, a synthesis or in terms of (percentage of time spent in a professional environment 25% and more.)
Experience in developing bibliographic research instruction and/or training resources.
Experience in using cataloguing standards and practices, including the descriptive standard Resource Description and Access (RDA).
Knowledge of subject analysis (research, analysis and synthesis of information and the preparation of information documents)
