Duties

The Operational Risk Division is seeking highly motivated individuals to join the Toronto Office in the position of Senior Supervisor. The position will be part of a team involved in the review of FRFIs’ operational risks and operational risk management functions, including a focus on information security and information technology.The position will also assist in planning, determining the scope and conducting supervisory assessments of FRFIs’ operational risks and operational risk management frameworks to support on-going assessments. This includes risk-based profiling of operational risks, risk reviews and monitoring specified FI’s, assessing processes used by FRFIs to address these risks. This position will require frequent travel to Montreal.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent is to staff 1 Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC) position through this staffing selection process.

This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles, security profiles (reliability or secret) and various tenures (term, indeterminate, assignment, acting and deployment), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● A university degree with specialization in commerce, accounting, business, finance, economics or mathematics, the Information Security (IS) or Information Technology (IT) field e.g., Computer Science/Engineering OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Recent experience in the financial services industry*, in one or more of the following areas:
o Business or Technology Operations
o Risk management or a related control function (e.g., information security, information technology business continuity management, operational risk)
o Internal/external technology focused audit (e.g., application audit, cyber security audit)
o Supervising/examining financial institutions

*Financial services industry experience is defined as experience working in a financial institution, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, wealth management firms, and accounting firms (dealing with audits), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions or other relevant areas.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE
● Comprehensive understanding of OSFI’s Supervisory Framework.
● Knowledge of current and/or emerging operational risks facing financial institutions.
● Knowledge of operational risk management guidelines, specifically E21.
● Sound understanding of the Basel Committee Banking Supervision (BCBS) Principles for the Sound Management of Operational Risk.
● Knowledge of current and/or emerging information security risk/ information technology risk in financial institutions.
