Health Canada's Specialized Health Services Directorate within Corporate Services Branch delivers programs and services to support the health and well-being of federal public servants. As the principal occupational health and safety advisor to the Treasury Board Secretariat, the Specialized Health Services Directorate provides a wide range of occupational health and communicable disease services through the Public Service Occupational Health Program (PSOHP), and also offers confidential employee counselling and specialized organizational services through Employee Assistance Services (EAS).

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one (1) indeterminate position with CBC/CBC linguistic profile. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various languages proficiencies (Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC), with various security profiles and various tenures using various staffing activities for positions within Health Canada.

EDUCATION:
ED1: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized university.

Important Note: A "recognized" university is a Canadian university that has provincial or territorial degree-granting status, or a university outside Canada, the programs/degrees of which are accepted by a recognized Canadian university. Evaluation of education (certificates/diplomas/degrees) obtained outside Canada must be obtained from a recognized credential assessment service. Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
OC1: Current registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada, with eligibility for registration in Manitoba.

EXPERIENCE:
EXP1: Extensive* and diversified** nursing experience.
EXP2: Experience in the development and provision of adult education.
EXP3: Experience in health promotion program development and management.
EXP4: Experience facilitating groups.
EXP5: Experience mentoring nurses or providing nurse peer support.

* Extensive is defined as at least 5 years.
** Diversified is defined as experience in 2 or more practice settings or areas of nursing practice.

ASSET CERTIFICATION:
AC1: Completion of International Critical Incident Stress Foundation courses: Individual Crisis Intervention & Peer Support (previously known as Basic Critical Incident Stress Management and Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management).
AC2: Certification to deliver Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
AEXP1: Experience and knowledge of health and resiliency promotion programs
AEXP2: Experience facilitating health and resiliency promotion training.
AEXP3: Experience in nursing practice with First Nations communities.
