Work environment

The Department of National Defence (DND) is the largest federal government employer, offering over 70 different types of civilian career opportunities. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team. In this regard, the department fosters a work environment where employees have opportunities to grow, to learn, to progress in their careers and have job satisfaction over the long-term.

Please note that the Defence Team members in the National Capital Region (NCR) are located at the new National Defence Headquarters - Carling Campus in Ottawa’s West-end. The Campus is a great new home with many benefits, from a beautiful setting and buildings designed to make maximum use of natural elements, to a full range of facilities, services and retail outlets. The design features of the Campus will enhance collaboration, innovation and efficiency, making our new home an ideal place for current and future employees.

Intent of the process

The Directorate of Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP), within Corporate Secretary, is looking for motivated, client focused individuals to join our team in assisting Canadians with their ATIP requests and supporting both the civilian and military members of the Department to meet statutory obligations under the Acts.

Corporate Secretary is a diverse organization that supports the leadership of both the military and public service branches of the Department in key areas including ministerial correspondence, governance, gender diversity and inclusion, and litigation implementation to support the LGBTQ Class Action Lawsuit.

In addition to facilitating and processing requests for information, DAIP staff deliver ATIP training and awareness for the Department, provide guidance and direction on privacy matters such as privacy breaches and privacy impact assessments, and support open governance and proactive publishing initiatives. Characterized by a culture of learning and a commitment to workplace wellness, DAIP offers a professional development program, ongoing training and mentoring and alternate work arrangements as supported by operational requirements.

We are looking for new team members who are strategic and analytical thinkers, organized, motivated, possess strong initiative and attention to detail, are action orientated, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and work well collaborating within a larger team on multiple files.

The intent of this selection process is to indeterminately staff approximately 15 PM-04 positions. A pool of fully and/or partially qualified candidates could be established to staff similar positions within the National Defence.
