A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada at the EG-04 group and level with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability Status, Secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

A secondary school diploma
Recent (i.e. within the last 2 years) experience in performing forestry or natural sciences related field work.
Experience with vegetation survey.
Experience in lab sample preparation and basic analyses.
Experience in data summary and interpretation.
English essential
Information on language requirements
Knowledge of plant community, tree and soil development in natural, reclaimed or agroforestry ecosystems.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Ability to identify common boreal and wetland plant species.
Ability to set up experimental plots and deploy field monitoring equipment
Ability to summarize data and perform statistical tests.
Effective interpersonal skills
Problem solving skills and resourcefulness
Dependability
Successful completion of an acceptable degree from a recognized university in forestry, land reclamation, biology or physical sciences.
Experience in developing and maintaining large databases.
Experience using ArcGIS and R Statistical Software.
Experience working with short rotation woody crops.
Experience with seed collection in the field.
Understand carbon accounting methods for agroforestry.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Reliability Status security clearance - This factor is not used at the screening stage. The hiring department is responsible for the security clearance process.
Willingness and ability to work in the field for extended periods (2 weeks).
Medical clearance in accordance with Treasury Board Occupational Health Evaluation Standards for field work.
Willingness and ability to work overtime.
