The intent of the process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position in either Iqaluit or Yellowknife.
A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established from this process which may be used to staff similar positions within Environment and Climate Change Canada, with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements (such as English essential, bilingual imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC), various security requirements (Reliability, Secret), various conditions of employment as well as tenures (Term, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Indeterminate, Deployment), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- ED1 Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in environmental or biological science, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience:
- EXP1 Experience leading or working in a team regarding the implementation or coordination of an environmental program.
- EXP2 Experience providing scientific and technical advice, or briefing, on environmental programs or projects .
- EXP3 Experience in collaborating with officials from the federal government, provincial/territorial governments, Indigenous groups, municipalities, or industry on environmental protection issues.

Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
- K1 Knowledge of environmental protection legislation administered by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
- K2 Knowledge of principles and practices used in the conduct of environmental assessments including the identification of mitigation measures.
- K3 Knowledge of environmental assessment processes in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
- K4 Knowledge of environmental issues related to industrial and commercial development activities.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- AED1 Post-graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an environmental or biological science or other science relevant to the position.
Experience:
- AEXP1 Experience with the environmental assessment of large project proposals such as mines, oil and gas production or pipeline developments, major infrastructure, etc.
- AEXP2 Experience supervising staff.
- AEXP3 Experience in planning, writing or evaluating technical documentation such as: environmental impact assessment and advice; environmental monitoring studies.
- AEXP4 Experience in conducting Indigenous or stakeholder consultations.
Reliability Status security clearance
- Travel required including travel to remote communities and locations.
- Work extended hours and conduct field visits.
- A Valid driver’s license.
- Candidates will be required to complete a Personal Health Declaration as the postings are in locations considered to be an isolated post. In addition, project site visits often involve chartered aircraft, the use of ice roads and boats to remote sites where medical facilities and services are not readily accessible.
