We encourage you to apply! The Regulatory Operations and Regions Branch, Health Canada, is looking to recruit policy and data analysts to support various programs and functions including reporting, planning, and policy development.

Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to hire individuals for acting positions, assignments or deployments, term and indeterminate appointments.

A pool of candidates will be created to fill similar positions with varying language profiles, conditions of employment and operational requirements at Health Canada.

The immediate need is to staff one position with an English Essential profile.

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Notes:
1. Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
• An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated for Part A above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience - Common to both streams:
• Significant* experience preparing, contributing to or drafting a variety of documents for senior officials (e.g., reports, briefing notes, correspondence, or presentations).
• Significant* experience working with internal or external stakeholders (e.g., other branches or directorates, other federal departments, other level of governments, or private and/or public sector organizations).
• Significant* experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research.

*Significant experience is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a minimum of eighteen (18) months.

Experience Stream 1 only:
• Significant* experience in the development of policy and/or program analysis and providing advice
• Significant* experience in the development of strategic or operational plans

Experience Stream 2 only:
• Significant* experience applying principles of data management and data quality best practices
• Significant* experience using statistical software packages or reporting tools (such as SPSS or SAS) to perform descriptive analysis of data
• Significant* experience preparing, manipulating and summarizing data

*Significant experience is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a minimum of eighteen (18) months.
