Education

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization* in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group;

Or

Eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation. The recognized professional accounting designations are Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA).

*The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

For example, the candidate can have a degree in Computer science but have acceptable specialized courses in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics as determined by the manager upon review of the transcript provided.

If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your credentials and/or diploma assessed against Canadian education standards. Experience

Significant** and recent*** experience performing one or more of the following:

• Financial management advisory services
• Financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting
• Accounting operations (eg: accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel fees)
• Providing financial policy advice and interpreting laws, policies, standards and procedures for financial management
• Financial systems
• Internal controls
• Corporate Accounting (eg: production of financial statements or public accounts)

** A significant experience is defined as being one in which the person’s primary responsibilities include these duties and refers to the breadth and depth as well as complexity of tasks that could be expected to have been obtained by carrying out the functions for a period of at least 18 months in financial management.

*** A recent experience is normally defined as experience acquired over the last five years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Willing and available to work overtime occasionally;
