Work environment

The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DNDs role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an important part of the Defence Team.

8 Wing Trenton is located in the Quinte West region of Ontario and is situated on the western end of the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario. Trenton is home to the National Air Force Museum of Canada and the surrounding area offers conservation areas, campsites, picnic grounds and marinas. Located south of Trenton is Prince Edward County which boasts many vineyards, camping, beaches and boating.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Possession of a valid Drinking Water Operator Certificate- Class 1 Water Treatment Subsystem
Possession of a valid Wastewater Operator Licence - Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Facility

Possession of a CAF WFE Tech QL5 Certification
Possession of a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification
Possession of a certification in First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Confined Space Entry
Possession of a Petroleum Mechanic 3 (PM3) Certification

Experience operating and maintaining water distribution systems
Experience operating and maintaining waste water collection systems
Experience in the handling of Chemicals and HAZMAT Clean ups

Willing and able to work overtime, as required.
Willing and able to work on standby, as required
Willing and able to travel to remote sites, such as CFB Alert and Eureka, for extended periods of time, as required.
Possess and maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license. Able to obtain and maintain a valid DND 404 driver's license.
Willing and able to work on an operational airfield.

Conditions of employment

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DND 404 driver's license.
Possess and maintain an Unrestricted Class 1 Water Certification and Class 1 Wastewater certification.
