The Central Help Desk provides technical support for a wide variety of projects, supporting RCMP police officers as well as, internal and external detachment users at the provincial, federal and international level.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff two (2) positions on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC and an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two (2) years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
E1. Experience supervising work teams or leading project teams.
E2. Significant* experience participating in the planning, implementation, or maintenance during an IT infrastructure change.
E3. Significant* experience providing technical advice and guidance to management, colleagues and clients.

* Significant is defined as the breadth, depth, and complexity of experience normally associated with full time performance of duties for a period of three (3) years.

AE1. Experience working in an analyst support role within a help desk environment.
AE2. Experience dealing with clients in support of IM/IT systems.
