Duties

The Department of Canadian Heritage is looking for experienced major event Logistics coordinator to participate in the organization of unforgettable events in the National Capital Region such as Canada Day and Winterlude and more.

As a logistics coordinator, you will be involved in every aspects of the event from planning, sites advanced, project implementation and closing. Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) AS-03 Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB position for a determinate period via an anticipatory staffing.

A pool of fully and/or partially qualified candidates may be created for the position and may be used to staff identical or similar positions with various language profiles (Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB or CBC/CBC), various security requirements (reliability, secret) and conditions of employment as well as tenures (indeterminate, acting, term, deployment, assignment, and secondment) within the department of Canadian Heritage.

EDUCATION

Post-secondary school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the position

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Recent* and significant** experience in the development and delivery of complex***, major**** cultural or sporting outdoors events or projects.

Recent* experience in planning and implementing logistics, operations and coordination of major exterior events.

Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams from planning, implementing, operations and evaluating the event or project.

Experience supervising employees and contractors of various trade during the event planning, set up and tear down phase.

Recent* experience in maintaining working relationships with representatives for public and municipal sector as well as private sector.

Definitions:
*Recent means within the last 5 years.
**Significant means at least 2 years of experience.
***Complex means multiple, competing, key components.
****Major events and projects are large-scale events or projects attracting and/or reaching crowds of minimum thousands of people.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - The hiring department is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for a ''Secret'' clearance, you must provide residence information for the last ten (10) years. The process may involve reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, credit checks (if required) and fingerprints.

Work in office as well as outdoors, for long period of time in weather conditions that can be difficult.

Consent to work overtime, irregular hours and frequently work on statuary holidays.

The ability to lift up to 25KG.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

A written exam, an interview and reference checks may be part of the candidate’s assessment. Once a written exam and/or an interview is scheduled and accepted by the candidate, it will not be rescheduled except in exceptional circumstances, which must be supported by appropriate documentation (e.g. doctor's note, death certificate).

Any travel expenses incurred by candidates to attend evaluations under this recruitment process will be the candidate's responsibility.

Top down selection may be used at any point during the assessment phase.

Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials, in the form of a diploma or official transcript as well as a proof of citizenship.
