We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.
When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
How does this process work? Please read below to find out!
Step 1:
Your application and resume (no cover letter required) is randomly selected from the inventory. Decisions on further assessment may be based on depth and breadth of experience. For all experience factors, ensure you answer the screening questions with sufficient details to allow hiring managers to fully understand the scope of your experience. A reference is required and may be contacted to validate your response.
Step 2:
If you are screened in for further assessment, the second phase is completion of the Candidate Achievement Record (CAR). This will be used to assess your Competencies. Concrete examples to address each criteria will be required, and a work or volunteer related reference who can be contacted to speak to the specifics of the example you provide is required.
Step 3:
You are contacted for an interview. The interview will be to explain the job, work environment, and may be used to confirm/address any of the essential Competencies. This will also be your opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the work. The interview will be used to assess your Oral Communication skills.
Step 4:
All candidates that move through to the CAR and Interview phase will be advised of your outcome in the process.
Step 5:
If you are the selected candidate, you will be contacted to complete the Security screening. Once completed, a letter of offer will be provided.
NOTE: Appointments are made on an on-going basis as requirements arise. Qualified candidates are placed in a pool, and appointments can occur for the next several years based on the results of this process.
Our intention is to communicate with candidates via email. Candidates who apply on this selection process must include in their application a valid email address and to make sure that this address is functional at all times and accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email). We recommend adding the contact email at the bottom of the poster to your list of contacts. Failure to respond in a prescribed timeframe may result in elimination from this process.
CFB Suffield is considered to be a semi-isolated base. We are located approximately 50 kms north west of the City of Medicine Hat in the southeast corner of Alberta. Most of the civilian personnel who work at the base live either in Medicine Hat or in the small town of Redcliff just to the west of the Medicine Hat city limits. This is an important point to note as there is no accommodation on the base and there is no public transportation to the base. Personnel either drive their own vehicle or car pool with others. Commuting assistance is provided for employees who live in Medicine Hat or Redcliff. For other information on the City of Medicine Hat, I suggest you look at their website at www.medicinehat.ca. For information on CFB Suffield, please visit: http://www.army-armee.forces.gc.ca/en/cfb-suffield/index.page
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent, temporary, or casual basis with various security requirements and language profiles. Not all applications will be processed at the same time; assessments will be completed on an as needed basis.
