Duties

Assists in the set up, configuration and conduct of a wide range of environmental tests of spacecraft and sub-systems, aerospace and non-aerospace hardware and provides support to the testing activities in other facilities of the David Florida Laboratory (DFL).

Fabricates various electrical and mechanical components, such as AC and DC power assemblies and Uniform Temperature Reference (UTR) blocks, to be used in vacuum tests.

Assists in supporting all mechanical applications, which include plumbing, soldering, electrical installations, and thermal enclosure fabrication.

Operates hoisting equipment and uses external scaffolding and internal staging and assists in the general upkeep of all Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) for the Thermal and Structural Qualification Facilities (TQF)/(TQS).

Prepares documentation for the procurement of spare parts or material used in the construction of thermal enclosures, devices and components, and maintains a supply (inventory) of consumable products.

Maintains accurate records of all work performed in logbooks and prepares data for input into test reports. Keep accurate entries into the TQF various data bases for inventory control.

The intent of this selection process is to staff two (2) positions on an indeterminate basis as part of a Professional Development & Apprenticeship Program for Environmental Qualification Technologists from levels 1 to 3 (EG-03 to EG-05). In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
A Post-secondary diploma from a recognized educational institution with a specialization in mechanical, instrumentation or electronic technologist;

OR

An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience in working with mechanical tools and electrical instrumentation.

Experience in working with a personal computer using Microsoft office application software such as Excel, Word and Power point presentation.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSETS (Qualifications, other than official language requirements, that are not essential to perform the work, but that would benefit the organization or enhance the work to be performed currently or in the future.)

Certification in the operation of forklift, overhead crane, hoist and rigging.

Experience working in a laboratory environment in a field related to the position.

Experience in operating and maintaining thermal vacuum systems for space related environment or related fields.

Experience in operating and maintaining structural and vibration test systems for space related environmental tests.

Experience in managing material resources for test facility support function.

Experience in working in a clean room environment.

Experience in operating of forklift operation, overhead crane, hoist and rigging.

Experience in working with cryogenic fluids.

Experience in working in an ISO 9001/9002 environment.
