• Responsible of a team of architects, designers and technicians. Responsibility includes the distribution, the planning and the follow-up of the team’s activities.
• Preparation of their service performance agreements and evaluations, coordination of their training and all other aspects related to their respective tasks.
• Provide architectural and interior design services for a range of Clients within the Ministry (PSPC) as well as with other Government Departments.
• Undertake quality reviews of documents prepared by external consultants in the field of architecture.
• Prepare the terms of reference for contracts with architectural consultants.
• Provide consultations, technical advices, verify or prepare technical reports, expertises and fonctional and technical programs and whenever needed, prepare drawings and specs for small-scale projects.
• Harmonise the team’s activities with those of the other disciplines within the Architectural and Engineering Services.

PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION
Certified as a professional Architect in Canada.
EXPERIENCE
Recent* and significant** experience as an architect in planning (for example needs definition, feasibility studies, expert opinions etc.) and in delivering the design and construction of works of varying complexity and scale related to new buildings and/or renovations, for different classes of buildings.
Recent* and significant** experience as an architect in managing technical and professional services mandates (managing, coordinating and evaluating the work of other professionals) of varying complexity and scale in the field of architecture.
Experience in providing leadership and expert advice.
* Recent experience means approximately 10 years of experience acquired within the past 15 years as an architect.
** Significant experience will be evaluated on the basis of the duration, scale, complexity and diversity of the work performed and the level of participation in diverse activities, direct responsibility for a wide variety of complex jobs and/or projects delivered.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree* in architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.
*Degree refers to a master of architecture from a recognized university by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board.
KNOWLEDGE
In-depth knowledge of national standards and codes in the architecture field.
In-depth knowledge of architectural principles, practices, techniques and methods used in building design, construction and renovation while taking sustainable development into account.
Knowledge of the techniques and practices in force for the review of design-related documents budgets and schedules prepared by other professionals.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
•Experience in developing or delivering projects based on the requirements of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system.
•Hold a LEED Canada certification
•Experience in direct supervision of human resources.
