Intent of the process

Immediate need will be to fill 1 indeterminate position.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (term, indeterminate, deployment, assignment, secondment).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in physics or engineering physics or another relevant field related to the position combined with an acceptable level of experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience of three (3) years or more in the design and development of physical and mathematical models that describe and characterize the phenomena related to the optical physics of the atmosphere caused by aerosols;

• Experience in the design, modification and operation of lidars and active electro-optical systems (2 projects or more);

• Experience in the exploitation and development of algorithms for lidar signal processing and active systems (2 or more projects);

• Experience in optical system design (2 or more systems).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:
• Doctorate from a recognized post-secondary institution in physics with specialization in optics and photonics.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Fortran, C ++, IDL, Python or Matlab programming languages;
• Designing and developing of Monte Carlo models;
• Defining research contracts and technical specifications.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the phenomenology and modeling of single and multiple scattering of lasers by aerosols;
• Knowledge of optical measurement and quantification methods for aerosols;
• Knowledge of the Monte Carlo method applied to the propagation of lasers in turbid media;
• Knowledge of how active imaging systems work and the effects of aerosols on them.
