Western Economic Diversification Canada is looking for two ideal candidates to help develop creative approaches for economic development across the prairies.
Western Economic Diversification’s (WD) policy team is looking for two fantastic people (one in Saskatoon and one in Winnipeg.) As a new team member, the successful candidate will help build our collective knowledge and provide support to our colleagues in a variety of policy areas, such as inclusiveness, cluster development, northern economic development and innovation. The work will help drive departmental decision making on the trends shaping the future of inclusive economic development across the west. WD is at the forefront of new and innovative approaches to inclusive economic development programming. As the Regional Development Agency for the West, we are nimble, flexible and able to deliver swift advice on a wide variety of priorities ranging from rail line restoration to protein innovation on prairie farms.
We are looking for people who think independently, work creatively and foster collaboration. In your role on our policy team, you will be challenged to connect with people, build relationships, and develop creative approaches to addressing challenges or opportunities related to economic development in the West. The intent of the process is to staff two permanent full-time positions, one in Saskatoon and one in Winnipeg. A pool of qualified candidates may be created for similar vacancies of various tenures and could be shared with Government of Canada organizations.

Your résumé.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology, Public Administration or Statistics.
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Experience researching and analyzing economic policy issues.
• Experience in writing analytical documents such as policy papers, position papers, background papers and reports on the results of economic analysis.
• Experience working with large datasets and/or databases related to the analysis of regional development and economic policy.
• Experience in successfully developing and maintaining positive working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners and stakeholders.
