Assessment accommodation

Courts Administration Service has their own compensation services which include direct access to a Compensation Advisor in Ottawa for timely resolution of any pay issues.

Duties

You will be called upon to provide executive, administrative and legal support services, as well as office management services, to one or more Judges of the Tax Court of Canada. The duties include, but are not limited to:
• preparing, proofreading, editing and formatting legal and administrative documents;
• managing and coordinating the assignment schedule and agenda;
• providing logistical support and making travel and hospitality arrangements;
• planning, organizing and implementing arrangements for the appointments and attendance at meetings, committees and seminars; and
• monitoring and submitting incidental, travel, and conference allowance claims in accordance with the applicable policy, directives and guidelines.

A pool of candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various tenure, various bilingual linguistic profiles and security requirements within the Courts Administration Service.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Completion of a post-secondary* school program, certificate or diploma related to the position, such as paralegal studies or legal studies OR an acceptable combination of education, training or experience related to the position**.

Definitions:
* “Post-secondary education” means years of education following high school graduation (grade 12 or Secondary V).
** “Acceptable combination of education, training or experience related to the position” is defined as a high school graduation (grade 12 or Secondary V) and three (3) years of work experience in a judicial, quasi-judicial*** or legal environment.
*** “Judicial or quasi-judicial environment” means a Federal Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).

Degree equivalency

Extensive* and recent** experience working in a judicial, quasi-judicial*** or legal environment.

Experience in transcribing information from voice recordings, handwritten notes or electronic transmission of texts.

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite software.

Definitions:
* “Extensive” is defined as an experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities which is normally acquired over a period of two (2) years.
** “Recent” is defined as within the last eight (8) years.
*** “Judicial or quasi-judicial environment” means a Federal Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
